Google My Business – How To Improve Your Visibility

Every local business strives to improve their organic and local pack visibility in Google. Securing top positions in the organic and local search increases the chances of that website receiving the majority of the free traffic available from searches in Google.

When patients are carrying out research on businesses in their local area, they will be drawn to the local pack results where they can read reviews about businesses left by others.

However, Google will only show the 3 most relevant businesses in the local pack. So, how do you show Google that your business is more relevant than your competitors?

A survey conducted by Moz asked SEOs to list the most important Google My Business ranking factors, and the results are very interesting.

Whilst citations and links remain very important, Google My Business signals and review signals were considered to be essential if you want to improve the visibility your listing has.

In fact, Google My Business signals were considered to be the most important ranking factor.

Google My Business signals include the proximity of the business to the user’s location, business categories used for the listing and the use of features such as Google Posts, Google Q&A and image and video updates.

The additional content created by the business increases the chances that users will interact with the listing, and the rise in the number of interactions will signal to Google that the business has become more relevant.
